To all the Embassy’s website visitors, Bulgarians and others, I would like to extend my warm welcome and express my sincere thanks for taking the time to take a glance at Algeria.
This website is meant to be a window on Algeria and, henceforth, provide various information in diverse fields. More emphasis will be put on the economic sphere, as the priority and main goal of this website is to contribute to strengthen and develop further the economic cooperation and trade between Algeria and Bulgaria.
Obviously, other aspects will not be left aside, especially the cultural ones. Indeed, we will be striving as well to forge bridges for cultural dialogue and exchanges in order to promote a better mutual understanding between the people of Algeria and Bulgaria.
I do take pride in having the honor and the privilege to be part, albeit in a modest way, of the creation of this website. I would like to take this auspicious opportunity to introduce in few words Algeria and its relations with Bulgaria.
Algeria’s modernization and development programs elaborated and implemented under the leadership of President Bouteflika have resulted in laying down firm foundations for the path towards building a capable and modern society. This strategy aims at establishing a fully constitutional form of governance based on law supremacy, human dignity, freedom of expression, equality, accountability, transparency, and the people’s participation in the decision making process. This has translated into a fully restored security and political and institutional stability in the country, improved economic fundamentals, the Algerian people’s renewed optimism, and, last but not least, confidence in a better future for the coming generations and the country.
The strategy followed by the Head of State and his government aims at integrating the world economy and at domestic reconstruction. Algeria’s integration into the world economy, which is at the core of the contemplated transition process, is clearly reflected by the official signing of a free trade agreement with the European Union and the finalization process for the accession of Algeria to the WTO.
During the last few years, the Algerian government has made tremendous efforts to reform the regulatory framework and improve the economy and achieved remarkable results. Indeed the country, now back on the right track, is building up determinedly an efficient and performing economy. Market economy has taken roots and is growing steadily. Algeria offers new attractive perspectives for its foreign partners for the promotion of business relations and investments.
Algeria’s foreign policy endeavors to uphold the rule of law, human rights, international legitimacy, principles of peaceful coexistence, the necessity to resolve disputes peacefully through dialogue, as well as tolerance, understanding and openness between all the peoples and the civilizations, based on mutual respect and pursuit of common interests.
In this context, the relations of friendship and cooperation that bind Algeria and Bulgaria for more than fifty years will undoubtedly gain in warmth and depth. The Algerian-Bulgarian partnership will be given a new impetus to help it fulfill all its potential, and lay sound foundations for closer, more comprehensive, and more diversified economic cooperation between the two countries.
No stone is left unturned: telecommunications, information and communication, construction, architecture and design, energy development, and water resources are but few of the various and promising domains being explored. Several important agreements have been signed and many others will be signed in the very near future to make available all the legal instruments required for the development of the bilateral cooperation. On the other hand, contacts and exchanges are underway at various levels aiming at enhancing and strengthening the direct exchanges between the business managers of the two countries. Under these new favorable circumstances, Algeria-Bulgaria relations are bound for a significant growth. The future is holding bright prospects for their expansion in each and every aspect.
